Bear Ridge is located just 5 miles from the charming town of West Jefferson, North Carolina and 25 minutes from Boone. This 2-story cedar and pine 1700 sq ft cabin is situated on 4 wooded acres and neighbors a goat farm with horses. The home was custom built in 2001 and has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, with two living rooms. It easily accomodates five, but has room for additional guests. The atmosphere is rustic elegance, nicely appointed for upscale vacationing and features lovely antique stained glass windows brought over from England.
The upstairs living room has Eddie Bauer leather seating, a handmade lotus wood coffee table and gas stove, and you'll find the chairside table filled with board games and cards. The bookshelf also offers a library of reading material and magazines. The large kitchen features granite countertops, an expresso machine, custom-made Charleston Forge dining table for 8, and island for additional seating. Rustic lighting fixtures are found throughout the home, and the master bath features a custom-made iron vanity light. The walk-in shower is large enough for two, and the bath's cabinetry provides ample storage. A large walk-in closet joins the bath and bedroom, featuring Attic Herilooms mission funiture from Broyhill, custom-made walnut bedside tables and a king bed with luxury linens. The large cabinet hides a large television with DirecTV sattelite, HBO, Showtime and TIVO, and DVD player.
Downstairs you'll find a second living room with down-filled sofa and comfy chair from Rowe Furniture. The downstairs television has a PlayStation 2/DVD player, making this a great family space or activity center for the kids. A complete DVD library offers a wide selection of movies in case the sattelite selections aren't enough. The living room opens to two additional bedrooms. In the first, you'll find a full size antique bed with anitque dresser from the 1920's and reach-in closet. The second is a large room with a queen size metal bed, Attic Herilooms computer cabinet and mission dresser, and large walk-in closet. The bath has a tub/shower combination and fine cabinetry with lots of storage. There is also a full size stacked washer/dryer.
In addition to the computer with flat screen monitor located in the downstairs bedroom, the cabin features wireless connectivity to the always-on high-speed internet connection. Bring your laptop and surf from anywhere inside or outside the house.
Being in the mountains allows for outdoor living. The cabin features four porches with some wonderful mountain views. The screened upper porch is perfect for reading, sipping tea, or relaxing on the red adarondak chairs or rockers, or for an outdoor supper. The lower porch offers a Hot Springs hot tub for the ultimate in relaxation.
