Ashe County Farmers Market

Located on the Backstreet in downtown West Jefferson, the Farmers Market showcases local farmers and crafters. When in season, Saturdays from 8am to 1pm, and Wednesdays from 2pm to 6pm. Apple Pie Contest September 25th. Get More Info

BackStreet Park Summer Concert

Located at the BackStreet Park in Downtown West Jefferson, the Park Summer Concert series features local artists in open air concerts. Fridays from June through September, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Christmas in July

Christmas in July is our annual Independence Day weekend celebration. The downtown West Jefferson festival has its roots in the local Christmas tree industry. Thousands of local residents and visitors enjoy premiere entertainment, downtown shops, arts and crafts vendors and foods of all kinds. Ashe County Parks and Recreation provides the July 4th fireworks at Ashe Park in neighboring Jefferson. Get More Info

Annual Holiday Parade

Every November since the Second World War, downtown Jefferson Avenue/Business Highway 221 has hosted a holiday parade. Local entries provide the excitement that has become a community tradition. Parade dates vary.

Gallery Crawl

The Ashe County Arts Council sponsors a Gallery Crawl in downtown West Jefferson. The "Crawl" is an evening of strolling among West Jefferson's many art galleries with refreshments, street entertainment and drawings. Locomotion Trail

West Jefferson has a Locomotion Trail. The Trail's total distance is a mile, and provides distance markers every 1/5 of a mile. The artworks used as markers are permanently affixed in the sidewalk, along with the brass plaques that have the Locomotion Trail Symbol on them.
